This video makes me sick to my stomach, not only that it happened but that America sat back and allowed it to happen. Some people have laid everything on the line in an effort to warn our country and the world about the disasters that now befall us, but most of us sat idly by and did absolutely nothing. Shame on us. Every single economic, environmental, and national security disaster could have been prevented with any reasonable amount of foresight. Worse still, the vast majority of our current ills were coldheartedly plotted in advance....the good of the nation was sacrificed to enrich a handful of heartless greedy individuals. And yet sedated by reality TV, video games, and mind numbing medications, we allowed it to happen. We have become a nation of willing victims, simply because we did not rise up or even wake up until it was too almost too late. And now we're paying the price.
We have elected a new president, one who offers hope and a new direction. We have chosen to (finally) revolt against a regime that has all but dismantled our nation and our constitution. But that doesn't mean we can sit back, take our meds (whether they be prescribed or imbibed), grab our remote controls, and zone out in front of our televisions, video games, and computers. We must be forever and eternally vigilant, and hold Obama and our other elected officials accountable for their actions, just as we finally held Bush accountable for his. We must never again fall prey to complacency and the trappings of a false sense of security. Our nation's future depends on it.
So here it is....eight years of our nation's shame in a little over eight minutes. May we never forget.
And from the UK Telegraph:
George Bush surprised world leaders with a joke about his poor record on the environment as he left the G8 summit in Japan.
The American leader, who has been condemned throughout his presidency for failing to tackle climate change, ended a private meeting with the words: "Goodbye from the world's biggest polluter."
He then punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock.
