For those of you who haven't been able to see the Bloomberg Special Report on stock counterfeiting, entitled “Phantom Shares,” we've posted it here from Youtube.com. Watch it and pass it on, it's the first video report to get it right. On March 19th, it will be three years to the day since The Faulking Truth wrote our first article on naked short selling, a little piece called ”Financial Terrorism in America” It pretty much changed the direction of my life, for better or worse setting me on a crusade against corruption in our financial system that, thankfully, hasn't been embarked on alone. Thanks to the efforts of first two or three solitary souls, then a handful, and finally growing to millions, we have collectiviey made a difference and shined a light on greed and corruption from Wall Street to Washington.
This is only the beginning, we now have to redouble our efforts to turn that light into real reform. In the next few weeks, Oklahoma will vote on landmark legislation that could serve as the model for stock market reform efforts at the state level. It has been written to withstand the legal assault that Wall Street has unleashed on other legislation introduced in other states. The measure, SB979, has already passed the Senate and will come up for a vote in the House sometime in the next few weeks.
While we need support from all around the country, it’s especially important that ANYONE who lives in Oklahoma (which includes this advocate) call, write, or email your legislator and tell them that they have a chance to make a difference not only in the state of Oklahoma, but for all of America. Write letters to the editor of your local newspapers, spread the word to message boards of Oklahoma-based companies, and let our state legislators know that WE ARE BEHIND THEM! Make them understand that in the end, they have to answer NOT to the money machine that controls our financial markets and our federal government, but to their constituents, and ultimately, to their own conscience.
I will have a commentary addressing the pending legislation in the Oklahoma City-based NONZine magazine this Friday, March 16, 2007. The working title is “Wall Street vs. Main Street,” and it will be the first call to arms in the battle to save Middle America from being bled dry by the ultra-wealthy brokers and hedge funds who are destroying our country one company, one job, and one shareholder at a time, or maybe that should be thousands of companies, tens of thousands of jobs, and millions of shareholders at a time. For those of you who can't find a copy of that magazine, I'll ask the editors to post it on their website at www.nonzine.com
For now, sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labors…then, get back to work. We’ve a lot left to do before this battle is over.
