- Dateline, NBC, and GE: LET THE BOYCOTT BEGIN!

(Editor's note: This is a copy of the email we just sent to officials at Dateline, NBC, and GE. Tell them what YOU think, and while you're at it, contact your local NBC affiliates and tell THEM what you think as well.) An Open Letter to Dateline, NBC, and GE: LET THE BOYCOTT BEGIN!
Thank you for updating the readers of The Faulking Truth on the "upcoming" Dateline Stockgate story. After reading your email, it is clear to me that you have once again misled your viewers, and our readers. THE STOCKGATE SEGMENT WAS CONFIRMED, and your implication that it was all a big mix-up is both condescending and misleading. And your decision to blame it on "a very busy news cycle" (because of the death of the Pope, Prince Ranier, and Terry Schiavo), and then replace it with an interview with "American Idol" Ruben Studdard? Well, even you must realize how ludicrous that it.
At the very least, you should stand up and take responsibility for your actions, and admit it when you are wrong. In the case of this story, and your repeated decisions to sit on this segment while millions of Americans are being fleeced on a daily basis by unscrupulous con artists, you are clearly morally and ethically wrong. Is it an ongoing story? Then do the segment, and follow up on it as it develops. This is the very basis of your show, "multi-part investigations, and follow-ups that stretch over weeks and months". TELL AMERICA THE TRUTH NOW! Therefore, The Faulking Truth will continue to advise our readers to boycott Dateline, NBC, and any and all GE products until you do the right thing and AIR THIS PROGRAM!
However, per your request, we have posted your email on our website, and forwarded it to our readers. I'm guessing that you will hearing from them in the very near future. Here is Sharon Hoffman's email, along with my added comments:

We just received this email from Dateline producer Sharon Hoffman:
Please post the following message on your site:
"All of Dateline's programming is subject to changing airdates, and things move on our schedule all the time. Our piece on short selling -- which we have not ever given an official airdate -- is currently in the works as we continue our reporting, and we will make an announcement about its airdate when we have one."

Excuse me? No official airdate? Hoffman DID confirm the April 10 date by email to Dave Patch on March 28, I consider that an "official airdate". In direct response to Patch's question "Any confirmed date yet?" (under the subject heading of "Confirmed Date?") Hoffman didn't mince words. Her reply? "Sunday, April 10." End of email, end of response. Now, if NBC would like to explain the difference between a "confirmed airdate" and a "official airdate", I'd more than willing to listen. In this writer's opinion, this is no more than classic Orwellian doublespeak. I believe that the orders to postpone yet again "came from above". This is, as I said yesterday, politics as usual. Anyway, thanks to Sharon Hoffman for at least keeping us posted.
I still believe that Sharon Hoffman has done everything within her power to move this story forward, but judging from her statement that the "revised schedule is in the hands of her superiors", her power has been severely restricted by those in authority. That can mean only one thing, in my opinion: it's time to step up the pressure, it's time to bombard them with even MORE emails and phone calls. I believe that it is time to LET THE BOYCOTT BEGIN!
Keep up the pressure, just the fact that they are responding to us lets me know that this is working. Thank you all, and......PASS IT ON!
