- BOO!!
   by Down The Middle

All Hollowed’s Eve is still weeks away but Americans are more scared now, than throughout the entire history of the country.

How frightening it must have been for our forefathers to sign their “Hancock” on the Declaration of Independence. Going up against King George and the British Empire’s army of experienced redcoats, led by the master general, Cornwallis was certain to yield what Patrick Henry decried…liberty or death.

But having overcome their fears…and the British…the leaders of the new republic delivered into our hands a full measure of lawful freedoms, by which Americans would forever live and die, the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights.

Throughout our history, generations have continued to answer the call to protect those freedoms…and now, Americans are being called to war once again. Only last week, at the christening of the tenth and last of our Nimitz class aircraft carriers, the USS George H.W. Bush, the honoree’s son and current president, George W. Bush remarked about his father’s war (WWII), "The point is that our nation was totally united against the insidious totalitarian threat against freedom”, he said…"freedom is again under attack and young Americans are volunteering to answer the call."

Yes, freedom is under attack…and by a totalitarian threat…but it is not the fanatical Islamic Terrorists who have destroyed our rights. It is our own government that has ripped the guts from our Constitution…and having done so, in the name of protecting the very freedoms they have chosen to annul. If the young men and women of our armed services want to answer freedom’s call, do not send them to war on the banks of the river, Euphrates…land them on the north shore of the Potomac.

FDR said, “We have nothing to fear but fear, itself”…but now, Americans are supposed to fear everything. It started after World War II, when we were told to fear the communists but soon turned to fearing our own people. Fear the hitchhiker, fear the longhair, and of course, fear anyone who was “different”. Now we are told to fear the terrorists.

The truth of the matter is, most Americans have learned to fear their own government more than they fear the Islamists. As Chris Rock said, “I’m from Brooklyn…fuck Al Qaeda.” That’s the spirit that kept America free, for over two hundred years. Unfortunately, lesser-willed Americans have become weak, afraid, and scared of their own shadows…but only because the government and their media lackeys have made them so, with all the “boogieman gonna’ get ya” sensationalism.

Yes, there are terrorists out there…and Americans should fear them. They are terrorizing honest investors in our stock markets and they are terrorizing working men and women, by sending their jobs overseas. They are terrorizing our elderly and infirmed with the theft of their Social Security and they are terrorizing the taxpayers with the sacking of our treasury and the ever-rising national debt.

American parents should also be terrorized by Corporate slavers, drug dealers, and the other
merchants of death …but maybe what Americans should really fear the most is the loss of their rights. This war is just beginning but it seems we’ve already lost our country.

     Now, I’m scared.
