Down The Middle - Mar 16, 2006 - Printable Version - Beating the Bushes ...and the Clintons by Down The Middle “Three more years.” That’s all I seem to hear, these days...and every time someone utters those three simple words, it makes me want to thump on their forehead, just too see how ripe that liberal melon really is. I shouldn’t be surprised. After all, they continue to swallow the line about withdrawing our troops from Iraq, while watching the Defense Department put the final coat of paint on four grand, new bases {among others} that are obviously built to permanently house and maintain sizable numbers of weapon platforms and troop concentrations. A wonderful stroke of convenience, don’t you think, considering the DOD will now find it quite “necessary” to stay in Iraq, to control this “unfortunate” civil war? The only other plausible reason would be that the bases are to be used for future strikes against other countries in the region. Hell, yeah! Three more years and ole Bush will get voted out of office and then, we’ll all get back to the game and our backyard bar-b-que…right? Well forget it! It ain’t gonna’ happen. I’m sorry to be the one to break it to you...but that illusion is gone, forever. Oooooh, I can hear you, now! In fact, I think I can see the torches and pitchforks coming up the hill, as I speak. You’re screaming that Bush has screwed things up sooooo badly, even his own Republicans are deserting him and now, I’m seeing story after story about how Bush is finished, because his poll numbers are in the basement and every Congressman is running away from him, to save their own political hide. Well, there are one or two conservatives who stepped back, once they realized that Bush is the most fiscally irresponsible President in the history of the nation, placing him well beyond any reasonable interpretation of conservatism…but once again, you’re confusing true conservatives with the neo-cons, who are still solidly behind him and making all the “important” votes, as recently confirmed by the adoption of the second Patriot Act. My question is…or should I say, my amazement is that people actually believe there’s going to be another election. Didn’t I already tell you about that? We’re just one “natural” disaster…or one big bang away from a coup d’etat, complete. Once martial law is implemented, all bets are off. But okay. Just for argument’s sake, let’s say that I’m wrong about the next Presidential election…and let’s forget that the White House has already prophesized that we will have a nuclear devise explode in the U.S., before the upcoming Congressional elections…and then, we’ll even forget that Diebold and ES&S will once again be counting the votes, just as they did in the last election, when the historically accurate exit polls so unexpectedly missed their mark. So, go ahead and tell me…which Democrat is going to come along and save the nation? Surely, you’re not planning to prop that Skull and Bones, wooden Indian Kerry up to the podium, again. After watching him get beat up by the opposition, I can’t believe that his own gardener still takes him seriously. And when there was so much obvious “skullduggery” in the voting, he just packed up and went home to a warm fire and brandy, declaring no contest because he was such a “good sport”. Well “Sport”, that was not your election. That was America’s election…and when you walked away without challenging the obvious voting machine fraud, you walked out on America. Oh, I know! It’s Hilary, right? Now, that would be a terrific choice. She not only carries the weight of the Slick Willie’s “baggage” but also has done well on her own, acquiring the ingrained resentment of half the country. Sure, she’ll get a strapping measure of the “liberal” vote from the far Left, which in itself is completely beyond my perception, because she’s an extremely strong advocate of the war…but she won’t get the price of a cup of coffee from the moderate middle, who’s support is absolutely necessary, in the two party system. Hey! What about the golden boy, John Edwards? Maybe you could talk him back for another round…but then, maybe his brief stint in politics left a bad taste in his “son of common mill workers” mouth. Tell me you didn’t think it a bit strange that this highly acclaimed, trial lawyer performed so poorly in the debate with “Darth” Cheney, sealing his own defeat with that little remark about Cheney’s daughter? Do you really believe that a “brilliant” trial lawyer would have ever said such a thing? Maybe, you can turn to ole Joe Biden. He’s always had the look and manner of a president {especially since the hair}…and he’s certainly had plenty of negative things to say about Bush. Of course, he stops short of telling the public the whole truth about what’s going on…just like he did with Church’s House Committee on Assassinations in 1978, when he announced that the committee had done all it could…and then left it up to some un-named, non-existent entity to finish the investigation. I figure Joe’s going to get back to that one, any day now. Actually, I don’t know how any liberal or conservative Democrat {or any true believer in our Bill of Rights} could back any Senator that backed the second Patriot Act. They can now, no longer be excused over the shock of 9/11 and the fear of terrorism. Even your latest hero, Obama deserted you, with his “patriotic” vote of approval…but then, he does seem to be getting along well, with his new friends at work. Nothing wrong with a little, good-natured fun, while waiting for economic collapse and global thermo nuclear war. Those true patriots who tried to guarantee your freedoms, by voting against it were Jeffords, I-Vt., and Democrats Feingold, Byrd, Akaka, Bingaman, Harkin, Leahy, Levin, Murray and Wyden. Other than these few righteous Senators, Robert Kennedy Jr. is about the only one I feel I can trust, anymore and you’re not going to talk him into sacrificing his life…and who can blame him? The fact is, most all of the top Democrats are relatively “safe” for the “powers that be”. Even if by some miracle the neo-cons should falter, the opposition candidates are so wrapped in bribery, blackmail and fear that they will never stand up for the country and it's people, who they are sworn to protect. They’re not about to expose the reality of this game, because they fully understand that they, too will go down with the ship. Sure, any number of these politicians would love to be the next Capitan at the helm of this great vessel we call America. After all, the office is the pinnacle of American…and world politics. But to achieve this position, one must sail for the Kings, as Taylor Caldwell suggested decades ago, in her book, “The Capitan and the Kings”. Veer off course and you’ll end up sharing a berth with John Kennedy. Listen…I know it’s not your fault that you were born into a wealthy country, spoiled by abject selfishness and the insatiable lust for money…and it’s not your fault that you didn’t see it coming. It’s hard to take your eyes off of that young girl’s inflated breasts and to stop thinking about that Gulf vacation…but I’m afraid you’ve waited far too long to put down that remote or mouse from the one hand and God knows what from the other. Wise up, folks. The poll numbers do tell the story…but not the way you’re reading them. The more desperate the political situation becomes for the neo-cons, the more likely they are to do whatever is necessary to hold onto power. Boom!
