- Let the Eagle Soar
   by Down The Middle

What do you think? Can American eagles soar alongside this odd duck, the neo-con? Apparently so, considering how few of our elected officials, including most Democrats who are now, busily arguing the finer points of manipulated prewar intelligence, seem to be able to get to the heart of the subject and ask the real questions. Even with the recent rumblings about the war coming from inside the President's own party, I would say it's all just a tad too late.....well over two thousand young American lives too late, not to mention the countless thousands of indigenous killed.

So, on and on we go. Right and Left, black and white, this hand and that. Let's argue Roe vs Wade, same sex marriage and let's argue evolution or intelligent design. Let's argue about welfare and work-fare, Negro and amigo, Chavez and Castro. Let's debate chicken flu, chicken hawks and chicken shits (those would be found at that "big cackling coup" on the hill.).....and maybe, if we still have time before the war goes global, we can all count the stints in Dick Cheney's heart...if in fact, that organ actually does exist.

The point is, the neo-con really doesn't care what you argue about, just as long as you keep doing it. That's how they stole America, its freedoms and the faith of its people...and that is how they continue to keep us "in our place".

Now, don't get me wrong. The debate about prewar intelligence is an important one...and it is putting a rather large chink in the already tattered armor of this administration. For the first time, they actually seem a little worried about losing the support of the people.....but don't you wonder why we're just now having this debate?

Even if this lone issue should prove so devastating to the President's approval ratings that the polls should fall below an unthinkable 20%, it will do absolutely nothing to prevent escalation nor an invasion, if we were to suffer another major terrorist attack. I dare say, a good portion of America would jump right back on the "war wagon". After all, we're not going to just stand by and let "someone" punch us out, now are we?

So, what were these neo-cons thinking? Start a war in the Middle East...the hottest spot on the face of the planet? Very risky business, I would say...but I suppose, when this plan was first conceived, it seemed not only logical but indeed, a question of national security guaranteeing the steady flow of America's "black blood".

After six decades of the United States nervously standing guard over the Middle Eastern reserves and wincing at the thought of boycott or war cutting off America's steady supply, the neo-cons have chosen to take the initiative, democratize the oil-soaked region into the New World Order and claim the oil for ourselves. Not only would this secure America's energy needs but it would also give us control over who else gets the oil and how much, a strategy that has grown in significance as China has grown into a major military/industrial player. After all, there's only so much oil left...and whoever controls it will control the world for the next quarter century.

Many prominent Democrats have not only "gone along" with the neo-cons but fully embrace the ideology, as in the case of Senator Liberman, a reoccurring Democratic candidate for the highest offices in the land. These same Democrats voted for the Patriot Act, which totally and completely voided Habeous Corpus, a fundamental right in a free society...and soon, it seems they are going to allow the President to get away with martial law and the confiscation of firearms, the last defense of the American people.

They allow the "Wal-Mart" trade imbalance to continue, they allow fraud in our stock market, they allow the environment to be "sacked and trashed" and they allow the dramatic increase in Afghani poppy production, which translates directly into heroin for our children. They allow non-verifiable, "hackable", electronic voting, they allow Imminent Domain over our private property and they allow a private banking consortium, the Federal Reserve Bank to print worthless paper money and charge us interest for borrowing it, all the while setting the interest rate "cycle" by which the bank giveth...and the bank taketh away.

There are those in our Congress that are fighting this "brick by brick" dismantling of America's foundation but it seems they are few and far between. What ever happened to men like Patrick Henry who shouted, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Knowing the ruthlessness of today's politics, I suppose some of them may actually fear for their lives...but do our representatives no longer believe that freedom is worth dying for? If not, why do they keep telling that to our young men and women before sending them into battle.

Even if you have no problem with this neo-colonialism of the Middle Eastern oil countries and were convinced that this was after all, the smart course to sail...I would think by now (unless you've gone blind from eating all that Viagra), you must be coming to the realization that the captain is a moron and his first mates are all mad.

From the out-set, this war has been terribly mismanaged by men who apparently knew "little-to-nothing" about the Arab mentality and even less about the realities of battlefield tactics, forcing our military into an untenable situation while threatening the foundation of our own democracy, here at home.

Even if you still believe this war is about terrorism, spreading freedom or controlling the oil for national security purposes, the reality is that the neo-cons on both sides of the isle have used it as an excuse to steal the wealth of America...and the concerted power of it's people to do anything about it.
