Commentary Too - Jun 6, 2005 - Printable Version - Top of the Heap (And other misconceptions about Man’s place in the World) by Mike Bohling Having just finished reading another fine and poignant article by Robin Buckallew, I am left feeling the same emotions that I always feel after reading the Faulking Truth regarding the state of this planet’s environment. Shame and hopelessness. It’s not only Robin’s articles that bring these emotions bubbling to the surface, it happens whenever I learn the Faulking Truth on any topic concerning the state of the world today. Unfortunately for me, I hear it, read it, and see it all of the time. Shame and hopelessness have become my constant companions. I deal pretty well with the shame. I actually wear shame proudly. It’s what separates me from George Bush. Shame drives me to be a better man than the one that I am today. It teaches me that my actions have consequences, and that if I make the right choices in life, I can transform my shame into something honorable and good. It’s the feelings of hopelessness that give me difficulty. It is because, like Robin and all people who see things as they are, I am very passionate about the direction my country is heading and I don’t like what I see. It shames me, and I feel helpless to stop it and put things back on the right course. When I read the news (the real news) about the environment, politics, the war, and religion, I contemplate how they all got into the obscene condition that we witness today, and I always come to the same conclusion. It’s the Money. I know that “It’s the Money” is no big revelation to anyone reading this, but what I find most salient is that Money has taken over as the dominant species on planet Earth. Mankind no longer controls Money, Money controls mankind. If you look at Money in the context that it is it’s own entity and that it has it’s own will, it becomes very clear who is Lord and Master and who is the subservient player in this game. For the sake of continuity, lets give this entity a name and call him Moolah. Moolah bends mankind to meet his desire. We work all day for money so we can spend the money we earn on things that we don’t need. Moolah provides us with both the work, and the things we buy. This is one of the ways that Moolah sustains himself and grows. Sometimes, we spend more than we earn and find ourselves indebted to Moolah. This makes Moolah very happy, as it gives Moolah even more power. Robin’s writings exemplify my point. If you took a poll of one million people, all million of them would agree that a healthy environment, clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and safe food to eat far outweigh any and all economic concerns. But where are we today? We’re digging ourselves into an environmental hole that we may never be able to climb out of. Why? Because Moolah, (the supreme Master of the world), has deemed it so. Moolah doesn’t need clean air or clean water. He feeds himself on their destruction. To hell with what a million people think. To hell with what 6 Billion people think. Screw ’em. People have no relevance. Moolah is in control here. Clean air be damned. You and I may be willing to change our habits and learn that our actions have consequences. Passionate souls such as Robin, and a great many others like her, make teaching us and warning us of those consequences their life’s work, but Moolah keeps grinding away and growing in strength, and the environment is getting decidedly worse every day. Moolah continues to gain ground, we continue to lose it. So, how’s about a nice War? Nobody wants war. Poll the same million people with a simple question, “War, good or bad?” and a million people will answer “Bad”. Some might think “I must defend my country”, or “I must defend my religion”, but what it boils down to is that your country and your religion are either defending, or aggressively seeking to accumulate, you guessed it……. More Moolah. People are expendable. Screw ’em. You have to keep feeding Moolah, and in the case of war, Moolah has an insatiable appetite. War makes Moolah grow exponentially, and the growth of Moolah is the only concern because Moolah is in control. People be damned. Nobody needs to be told about Moolah’s complete and undeniable control of the political process. Moolah owns every government in the world, but no government has submitted it’s allegiance to Moolah as enthusiastically as the United States. We have added twists to the Political/Money machine that lesser players could only dream of…. Bush and Company have taken the game to a whole new level by dismantling a secular government and constitution, and turning Christianity into the biggest cash cow in the history of global politics. Bushco has cornered the market on environmental destruction, war, and cashing in on religious fear in just five short years. Moolah is better fed and more powerful than he has ever been before. He controls the all of the markets. He creates destruction, then capitalizes on the very destruction he created. Moolah is very pleased. That my friends, is why you and I are now no longer at the top of the food chain. Moolah is the dominant species now. He is in control, and we are merely his pawns. Pawns with Hummers and a lifetime’s worth of debt. That is also why hopelessness has overtaken shame in the great battle of emotions. And that is my Faulking Truth.
