- Repeat After Me: "Anyone But Bush"
   by Mark Faulk

A word to my fellow writers at The Faulking Truth: I know I've mentioned once or twice that I've tried to restrain myself from joining in on the blatant "Bush bashing" that almost everyone else has engaged in, in a misguided politically correct attempt to appear "fair and balanced". However, after listening to "our" President's plans to systematically take over the Mideast country by country, so "subliminally" laid out in his speech at the Republican Convention, I have a confession to make: I was wrong. And if he is re-elected, I fear that I might be dead wrong. This election is a battle over the survival of our country, a battle for the heart and soul of democracy, and George Walker Bush is the enemy.

This is the Faulking Truth: I've been dogging the Demos for adopting an "Anyone But Bush" platform, but the more I hear about his "plans" for America (and the rest of the world, or, as I like to call it, America Lite), the less sleep I'm getting lately. So, my new mantra is (you guessed it): "Anyone But Bush". It's crunch time, and the election is in eight short weeks. It's time for everyone to get to work, and win back our country one vote at a time.

So, expect The Faulking Truth to turn up the heat over the next few weeks, and spread the word like never before.

In the spirit of that tirade, here's what's new on our little oasis of outspoken opinion:

Our mystery writer, "Down The Middle" fires the first shots in our renewed defense of the real values that make America great with his article "Drug Store Cowboy", which tells the touching story of George W. Bush, "compassionate conservative". It's his best piece to date, and worth sending to every undecided voter in America.

I continue my assault on the perpetuators of the biggest financial scandal in the history of the Universe (how's that for hyperbole?) with "The Berlin Connection: 250 Companies Out (And Counting)", in which I take on, once more, the Berlin Stock Market, their brokers, and of course, my personal favorite villain, the SEC. And where is Dateline, who has been sitting on this story for over six months? Apparently, they're busy covering the all-important Michael Jackson child molesting case (for the hundredth time). Dateline: get a clue, no one cares about Michael Jackson! Dateline or no Dateline, I've got three words for everyone involved in this scandal: Justice Will Prevail!

Okay, maybe I shouldn't drink coffee after midnight, take a deep breath and calm down. Practice my new mantra, "anyone but Bush, anyone but Bush, anyone but Bush". There, I feel better now.

Now, where was I? Oh yeah, I'm in the middle of an update, sorry:

In our "Words" section, I've chosen a poem that my father wrote thirty-five years ago while on the way to an anti-Vietnam War rally. "This Single Child" tells the story of how war affects everyone, and puts a human face on the often anonymous victims. A powerful and emotional piece.

Our guest commentary this week is "School Just Ain't What it Used to Be", by D.E. Neighbors, who penned "A Republican Speaks" a few weeks ago. It proves that humor is the only true bipartisan agenda.

Robin Buckallew continues to make us feel guilty about our excesses in "Is There Any Future in the Past?", in which she deals with the continual assault on our heritage in the name of "progress".

And finally, I exploit the personal struggles of someone very close to me in order to point out the obvious failures in Bush's "No child left behind" program. "13 Million Left Behind" tells the Faulking Truth, which is more than I can say for Dubya's rhetoric about improving our educational system.

That's it for now, I guess it's time to see if I can get a bit of rest with the images of Rumsfeld's "low-yield" nuclear weapons dancing in my head.

    Sleep, my pretty, sleep.
