by Mark Faulk While most websites are only after your hard-earned dollars, at The Faulking Truth, we are interested only in, well, the faulking truth. Right now, you're probably sitting their asking yourself "How can I help?". Here are several ways you can assist us in spreading the word without even getting off your lazy asses or exposing yourself to that uncomfortable "human contact" that makes us all so nauseous.
1. Forward this to everyone you know (especially the people you don't like).
2. Add your name to our mailing list.
3. Add all your friends names to our mailing list without their knowledge (they'll thank you later, and if they don't, blame it on someone else).
4. Link our site to anything that moves, and send our articles to anyone that might reprint them.
5. Sign our guestbook, or send us a letter to the editor. Someday, when getting insulted by The Faulking Truth is the latest thing, you can say you were one of the first. (And will someone please insult Ken Shade, I think he's a little disappointed that he hasn't received any hate mail yet.)
Okay, now that we've gotten the formalities out of the way, welcome to the second issue of The Faulking Truth. The response so far has been amazing, with over 1,600 hits in the first two weeks (and to think I've been talking to myself all these years). First, I need to thank Justin Faulk for putting the site together for us, without his help I would still be standing on a soapbox in my front yard yelling at passersby.
We've added a few new writers this time around (with even more to come). Check out Ken Shade's article "The Cripples Are Pissed". It's funny, thought-provoking, and a bit scary all at the same time. And Robin Buckallew's article, "The Bush Ranch", exposes George Dubbya in all his shallow glory. Robin will be writing a regular column for us, entitled "Global Warning". Lauren Zuniga, one of the most talented creative writers I know, contributes "Incarceration", a beautifully written and honest indictment of our prison systems. I'm hoping to add her to our list of regular contributors as well. Also, our social events editor, Vera E. White, asks the question that's on everyone's mind, "Are Babies A Minority?", in this month's "White Living in Oklahoma" section. Sadly, one of our writers, Russell Tharp, has recently encountered some serious personal problems, which he details in "Confessions of A Chicken Sexaholic, A Cautionary Tale of Breasts and Thighs". We wish him all the best. And finally, I take up the battle cry of "The Radical Middle", and answer a few of our letters to the editor.
In the next few weeks, look for articles on Toby Keith's charity "Ally's House", tort reform, and a series on "The Best Band You've Never Heard Of", as well as our regular columns. Until then, if you're asked to testify in front of the 9-11 Commission, don't forget to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the faulking truth. www.faulkingtruth.com
